Task One
- Please decide what kind of accessory you would like to make and do a quick sketch, indicating the rough size of the item.
- Please make a list of supplies you will need.
- Please show it to Ms. Bartok.
- Make your names and class are on the drawing.
Task Two - Experiment One
Your group has the following items:
Watch the video below only after you have completed all the steps above.
- a coin battery
- a coin battery holder
- 4 alligator clips or wire
- LED light bulb
- Take a really close look at your items (notice any print on the items, and look at the LED closely noticing that one wire is longer than the other). Draw a detailed diagram showing how you will use the items to light the LED. Label each item in your diagram.
- Try to light the LED. Arrange the materials until you are successful. It may take a few tries. You can gently bend the LED leads if needed.
- When you are able to light the LED, answer the following:
- Was your prediction / diagram accurate? If not, what was the difference?
- If your prediction diagram was not correct, draw a new one and label it. Explain what is happening. Why does the LED light up?
- Why is one wire longer than the other on the LED? What does that indicate?
Watch the video below only after you have completed all the steps above.
Now that you've watched the video, can you add to your answer about why the LED lights up?
Can you create a parallel circuit with 2 LEDs?
Find defintions for the following words in the video or in a dictionary (online or paper):
Conductor
Short Circuit
Circuit
Series Circuit
Parallel Circuit
Current Electricity
Insulator
Source
Switch

Task Three
Create a detailed drawing of your item, showing exactly where the circuit, LED lights, battery holders and switch will be located.
Task Four
Make your item. Make sure one group member takes photos and video!
Task Five
When you are "done" the entire design process and have a working accessory:
As a group please make a short reflection video of about one minute long that answers the following questions:
Then, create a file folder in your onedrive account called "Wearables." Please upload your group's pictures, video clips, and reflective video into that folder. Share the folder with me so that I can access them.
*You only need one person in your group to create the folder*
- What did we learn (skills, process, information)?
- Describe a problem(s) that you had and how your group overcame it.
- How was my group creative?
